BIG Gets Major Volunteer and Intern Help!

Lately, the Build it Green warehouse has seen a huge influx of great new interns and volunteer helpers.

From the Brooklyn College Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship program we currently have Elizaveta Golovatskaya as a marketing intern. She is currently helping us write this newsletter, post featured items on our website, run our Craigslist listings and develop a way for us to reach out to potential donors such as appliance and cabinet manufacturers and retail shops for their overstock and returned items. If you'd like to give Elizaveta an outreach or marketing tip, her email is marketing@bignyc.org.

We also have been greatly helped out by the women of NEW: "Nontraditional Employment for Women." The idea is to get women into jobs that have historically been "mens-only" jobs in construction and related fields. If you've come on a Saturday, you've probably seen them measuring doors and windows, marking paint cans, sorting wood and generally organizing and cleaning up the warehouse. Thanks so much NEW!

Finally, we're pleased to be working with the "Supportive Children's Advocacy Network" (SCAN) in implementing the "Fatherhood Re-Entry Program". As part of the work training program, we offer the work site and they provide hard working fathers to help organize the warehouse. And lemme tell ya' the warehouse hasn't looked this good in a looooooong time! Thanks to Kenneth Boalds for his hard work!
